Been doing some research on the NET regarding using veg-oil as fuel.As I understand it you can safely mix the un-refined (new) oil with pump deisel to produce part bio deisel without the refining process to turn the veg oil into 100% bio deisel. The ratio varies from 5 to 50% depending on the outside temp.Apparrently freezing temps cause viscousity problems if the ratio gets too high.Has anyone any experience of using veg oil?

I had to use veg. oil from a French supermarket last year when the tanker drivers went on strike. (checkout girl thought I'd lost my marbles having two carts full of 3 litre containers!).

The car went OK but the smell of the exhaust was something else, a dead give away to the customs people!

I used diesel fuel additive with it, as untreated cooking oil apparently causes "gumming up" and can rot the pump seals There is also another by-product which causes corrosion within the engine and some damaging air pollution.  This is refined out in treated and commercial bio-fuel.

Don't go to Tescos and buy a cart full and start pouring it into the tank in the car park.........the customs men will get you!
