Ok I have a bit of a prob which I cant work out.

My engine keeps dying through lack of fuel.
The fuel line it seems is getting air into it.
Prime it up and it runs for a while. soon as you put the motor under load it coughs and dies. It uses all the fuel in the filter and then dies
Prime it up again and you notice that the fuel line has lots of air in it.
I was told that the primer pump diaphragm has prob got a hole.
Replaced that it ran for a while at idle then at 1800rpm for a while too.
turned off.
went to start it again fuel line has air in it.
no visible leaks.
all filters are new and clean and tight.
all fuel lines are clean and tight.

It seems you've covered all the bases, the only other thing I can suggest is check for rust where the fuel line links to the tank?

Good luck

Jim.

Hi,

I have 60 running gear in my BJ40 and have experienced a similar problem. After loads of searching it came down to the flex pipe between the chassis and the engine... it looked fine from the outside but the pipe had swelled inwards and was blocking the fuel flow. When I bled the system to getting going each time there appeared to be air in the system. Changed the pipe and have had no re-occurence of the problem.

Worth a try?

x2 It seems to be a real problem in countries with salted roads and lots of precipitation
