When I bought my LC80 it only came with the 1 key as the previous owner had lost/broken/eaten the other one...  Rolling Eyes  I spoke with my local dealers and they quoted £150 for a replacement blank!!! This is without a transponder or remote  Shocked  Talk about a rip off!

Anyway, the point of this post is that after a lot of searching and talking to different lock and key places nad getting nowhere, Mobile Lock and Safe co. in Wandsworth (London) was suggested in an email circulated on the ELCO mailing list.
http://www.mobilelockandsafe.co.uk/

I popped in and they had a look on their system and lo and behold they had the blanks and could cut 2 spares for me for the royal sum of £7 each! Very quick and painless and therefore highly recommended!

Cheers,

1st post on what seems a very useful site.
A town center key cutter just told me my 1994 UK Diesel 80 series key has a transponder in it and a copied key won't work, He then offered to get me a transponder one for 60quid
Would this age have a transponder?
I only got one key when I bought the car and want a spare.
Many thanks
Darren

I have a 96 and a 97 80 series and a 96 90 series and none of them have transponders.

Not saying yours doesn't but I doubt it.

The key has a toyota symbol so I think it's an original the key it has a smooth edge all round and the shaped key part is in a strip into the middle of each side if that makes sense, are your keys like that or have I got something unusual.
Thanks for your help

My 80 non transponder key reads "TOY40P" on one side.
the other side says "SILCA ITALY".
