|
|
After buying my 1998 HZJ75 Pickup i decided to get quotes using the club information and here is my findings
One driver, 22 years no claims, less than 5000 miles per year, securely parked
1) 2Gether
As this seemed to be the clubs favoured insurance i tried these first
They had not heard of any agreement with TLOCUK
They could not find my truck "on their system"
I had to call them again and again to get a quote going over the vehicles details each time and they blamed their lack of staff as the reason
They asked if my truck was an import, well no Landcruisers are made in the UK so they are all imports. Mine was registered new in the UK even though it came from Toyota's Indonesia factory
Quote was £580
2) Adrian Flux
They had not heard of any agreement with TLOCUK
They could not find my truck "on their system"
After several calls and sending a picture
Quote was £575
3) NFU
They had not heard of any agreement with TLOCUK
They could not find my truck "on their system"
After several calls and sending a picture
Quote was £275
4) Aviva
They could not find my truck "on their system" however the previous owner insured with them.
They said they could not quote, however I have a considerable amount of investments with Aviva so i officially complained informing them that i would move my investments away from them.
Strangely theysuddenly could quote
Quote was £278
I tried compare the merekat dot com and they could not quote as "the computer says no"
I have been with my broker for 37 years so obviously i have been very loyal but they are now using the same computer quoting system so also cant find the truck
I have decided to change to NFU as their office is next door to where i park when i venture into town and being a customer i can park in their car park for free. I go into town at least once a week so that will save me 50 x £3 = £150
I have also had them quote on all my other insurance, house, contents, Range Rover, Etc Etc and they can save me just over £700
So the exercise has been worthwhile but in all cases saying you are a TLOC member made no difference and no one had a clue there was some sort of an arangement |

I'm really, VERY surprised that 2Gether Insurance and Adrian Flux 'said' they weren't aware of any agreement with the TLOCUK' - the telephone numbers listed in these sections are DEDICATED numbers for the Club and the relationships have been established for a LONG time!
I'll have a word with them both today and make sure the process is working correctly.
NFU - there's no formal agreement - they are listed BECAUSE they do great insurance deals for 4x4 owners.

Simon:
I sent you an email about this in 29.9.2010
Hi
Insurance
First thanks for all you are doing for the club
I have been trying to get quotes on the Landcruiser i am about to buy
Its a HZJ75 1998 4.2TD Truck, I called 2gether explained about the Club link and they did not seem to be aware of it, they then could not find my truck in their system so said they would call back, I am still waiting for them
The others i have tried from your list have online quote systems but again I just cannot find my vehicle in the dropdown boxes so have to stop halfway through.
So it looks like i will have to go back to my normal broker
Just thought you would like the information.
Regards
Colin
And you answered in 1/10/2010 with:
Hi Colin,
thank you for bringing this to my attention.
This is a concern, as I have been working with 2Gether for a long time now, in association with the various web communities I run - the Landcruiser Club certainly shouldn't be a mystery to them at all.
In addition, they do have access to a number of specialist schemes and it shouldn't be a problem for them to find your vehicle. Although, as you are unable to find your vehicle on a number of systems, this may not be the insurance company's fault.
I don't suppose you recall who you spoke to?
If you don't mind, I'll pass this on to the boss at 2GFS, Gary Haime.
Thanks for the feedback.
Regards
Simon
We had a number of emails after that so you had already said you would speak to them
Maybe there should be some sort of official letter from the insurance we can down load or some sort of reference as it seems to me you have to get the right person
I am very happy with NFU so thanks |

As you've raised it in the forums Colin, I just wanted to reiterate the situation ...
2Gether Insurance and Adrian Flux are more than aware of the Club and calling on the dedicated 'phone number(s) should put you through to an insurance specialist who is familiar with the Club.

No problem - just a shame they won't enter into a deal for Club Members (at this time).

I did call the numbers given and they had no idea of a link with TLOCUK.
2gether were short staffed, they are a small broker with a lot of clients, 30000 they told me, maybe the one who was aware of the link was off at the time, I called them several times and spoke sevearl people including Grant Watson and Julian Gaylard Pintilie (Great name )
Adrian Flux, the number given transfers to their call center
I am sure you have made them aware of the club links but all i am saying is they didnt seem to have a clue about a link. |

Hi Colin,
withing the boundaries of the data protection act, I have referred this post to both 2Gether Insurance and Adrian Flux.
Both have advised they have records of your contact, both 'assigned' as TLOCUK contacts - so something's working!

Its easy for them to say that after the fact, dont you think. Still lets hope that this has made them aware and the next person who asks gets the club deal
Thanks Simon |
