Ended up getting a Milner Radiator, £150, and got a local garage to install it for £60.
For reference, the garage was TL Motors in Muswell Hill - www.tlmotorsltd.co.uk . I have no complaints. Friendly lot. _________________ '97 Colorado 3.0 TD LWB

|
|
I've just been quoted £982.99 inc vat for replacing a new radiator and heater hose from local dealer (shrewsbury)- am totally gobsmacked.
Any ideas as can't really drive it anywhere. Anyone ever tried radweld? Are the milner radiotors any good?
Just before Chritmas too - not sure whether I should wrap the new radiator up for my wife's Xmas present! |

I've used radweld in the past but I would stay away from it in future.
I've had the Milner radiator for just over a year now and it has developed some weeping. I've heard from others that have had similar issues with Milner rads Not the end of the world but not good enough either..
I've heard from a few people that the radiators from these guys are well made: http://www.discount-cooling.co.uk
decent prices too. _________________ '97 Colorado 3.0 TD LWB

If your radiator is weeping, a bottle of radiator sealant (Barrs?) or a little sealant stick might solve the problem. It uses a resin which melts in the hot coolant but becomes solid in the leak. It only works for small leaks.
It's not a perfect solution but I found it worked and didn't cause other problems provided you only used one pack.

Thanks Willy
I'd tried some radweld (in fact I think it was Barrs). But it didnt help. Luckily it is a very small leak and the coolant level hasnt dropped over the last few weeks. Next plan is some of the sealant stick epoxy putty.
Just need to get over the freezing cold outside to get it done! _________________ '97 Colorado 3.0 TD LWB

K-Seal is the stuff to use, iv'e seen a commercial vehicle with water pouring out the rad & the mechanic poured three or four bottles in with the engine running & after a few minuets the leak stopped & is still good to this day. |
