Before I start lifting carpets,drilling holes and following the loom,can anyone tell me which side of the boot the rear light cluster electrical
circuit wiring is.

Having just done the job myself - you are better off picking up the loom on the ns rear and splicing into it just to the rear of the rear wheel arch.

Take out jack, rear panel and innards and you have complete access. Allow yourself about 2 hours - and you'll need a mate to press brake pedal etc.
