I've put this in the 90 forum, but thought i'd put it here as well.

Driving to an off-road play day and my engine suddenly developed a rattle; pulled off the motorway at the nearest junction (which i was almost at) so i had somewhere safe to stop; as i slowed to stop the oil warning light came on, blipping the accelerator made it go away; as i got to somewhere with a verge she stalled on slowing down. Got the AA out and relayed to my local garage. The guy who came out to assess it says it's probably the Big End.

It's a 1KZ-TE (i think lol).

Anyone got any experience with this job? What does it entail? Would it be cheaper to get a recon engine? If so any recommendations?

I'm kind of glad it happened on the M3 instead of somewhere in the African bush lol
