Any pics? I have one here pretty original. I paid 400 dollars for it, then shipped it over. I am not sure keeping it totally original is the best plan. I have taken out the petrol and intend to put a 60 diesel in, maybe lift it, decent wheels, tidy up the interior, modernise the brakes and put power steering. Then if it looks good maybe someone would pay 4-5k maybe....
Would love some pics as only ever seen mine. Pm me for my email address.

America is alway a little different, they are still knocking around in OZ and do not fetch anywhere near as much as the 40's. They just are not as appealing. They are not called the Ugly pig for nothing. I think they are ace and look forward to getting mine back on the road but like you say I have never seen a good one come up for sale. I did see a scrapper(cut up) come up for sale and it did not even make 200 quid. If you were going to buy a 55 then you are more likely to go for a 60 series. Done up like the americans do they look good, especially in a two tone.

That is frik'n awesome. I love it... I would leave it like it is and run it. I especially like the 3d decals on the bonnet and rear. That is a great find. See if I have a pic of mine somewhere.

Didnt even know what a 55 looked like until I spotted one on Wikipedia a few days back.
That is indeed a rarity in the Uk.
Impossible to value - would suggest you do a quality job on it and then maybe one of the specialist auctions places, but you need to put together history for it. Is it still registered with DVLA?
An enthusiasts car.
Keep us up to date with the work.

I don't know about the history of the car,but just have last road tax disc, and i think its 91 or 93,100% genuine milleage, after its have been parked up for more than 15 years, and u want believe it, there is no petrol tank(collapsed),ive put new battery but can 5 litres of petrol direct pipes to pump on carb and its started straight away, drives good, need sort brakes and bits and bobs, most of it welding, still all original so gonna leave it in same, just gonna restore all and than sell it.
The work gonna start it after xmas |
