Hi All…
I`m new to the forum and do not know much about Land Cruisers, therefore need some advice!
Am currently going to buy a 1988 LANDCRUISER II Turbo Station Wagon 3dr Diesel Estate . Could you please tell me what are the common faults with these and what is the main thing to look for? Generally I think these are very reliable cars for off roading, but being this oil, am I getting myself in a trap of visiting a mechanic every week! It has done 89000 miles, which I think is quite low for the year, also could you please tell me which series it is? Can I get parts for it easily or is it a trouble?
Thanks all…..
Look forward to replies....

Hi Sam,
I think that you will find that your Landcruiser is a 70 series. If you look at the chassis number it should tell you.
For example on a 60 series, in the chassis number it will have HJ60 in it.
As for common faults I don't know of any on this model, but if you post the thread on the 70 series section there may be someone there that will be able to help you, otherwise look on the internet for some info.
Does it have the 2.4 diesel engine???? If it does I think you will find that this is prone to head gasket problems.
Regards
