Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum.

I know this forum is Landcruiser specific, but hopefully, the FJ Cruiser falls into the Landcruiser family Smile

I'm in the process of importing my 2016 FJ from South Africa to the UK, and I need a little help. Specifically, can anyone recommend a Toyota / FJ specialist mechanic as we're having a few challenges with emissions to pass the IVA (I've posted a little summary below). The car is currently with the import agents in Derby, near Nottingham - so ideally, I'd like to find someone not far from there but would be happy with any solid recommendations at this stage.
The car arrived in the UK on 22 August.
The car failed emissions on the first test, and the agents thought it might be old/poor fuel from South Africa. They drained the tank, filled it with new fuel, and drove the car to clear fuel lines.
Failed emissions again a week later. The agent's mechanic did a full inspection and discovered that the car had previously been de-CAT'd (in South Africa before I bought it, of which I was unaware).
A new set of primary CATs were installed - still failed.
A new set of secondary CATs were installed - still failed.
Lambda sensors remapped to factory - still failed.

This brings us to today when emissions failed, but we are very close:

    CO(%Vol) Result: 0.53 - FAIL (pass 0.00 - 0.20)
    Lambda Result: 1.027 - PASS (pass 0.97 to 1.03)
    HC(ppm) Result 24 - PASS (pass 0 to 200)

Has anyone else been through a similar experience / have any suggestions or what might be hindering the final pass on CO(Vol%)? Considering the work I've had done on the CATs and O2 sensors, it suggests something may be over-fuelling ... but Im no mechanic.

And my import agents are struggling to find a mechanic to assist. We contacted Toyota Derby today, and then Toyota UK - they won't touch the car until we can provide a registration number, which we cannot provide until we've cleared IVA and MOT and the car has final registration ... so the dealers seem to be a dead end at this stage.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could recommend a good Toyota / FJ specialist or any other advice that may be helpful.

Thanks!
Stephen
