I think most of them are not OBDII compliant - not in the UK anyway.  The later ones might be, after 2008 or so.

I think it depends on the country too - I tried to get an Aurophix 3210 on mine (a 2006) but it didn't work.  It sems to work on AU cars though.

Bottom line - if you're buying a reader that you're not sure of, make sure you tell them the car it needs to work on, and pay by credit card - then if you have problems you at least have some options to get your money back.

Thanks Karl that is some handy information to know.
I will contact Diagnostic world and ask them if the iCarsoft reader will work with our Uk 120’s
