| I have a Amazon 4.2TD. It under revs when the gears are in 'P' and 'N'. The engine Rattles in both of these 2 gears. Its a 1999 Toyota Amazon 4.2TD. There are no engine management lights on. Any advice please. |

How do you mean "under revs" ? in P or N there should ne no revs other than to stop it stalling !

Hi Steve.
Yes it under revs. The engine Rattles pretty bad and there is a constant knocking of the engine. It only happens in P and N. |

| In P or N the car constantly over revs and under revs. The car revs are not stable. The engine is eratic and does not rev at a normal rate. The engine sounds like it will stall it does not. It revs keep going up and down only in P and N. |

You might have a vacumm leak, have a good listen for a hissing noise under the bonnet with the engine running, the small rubber hoses do rot after a while.
