Put 6 in, then check where it is on the dipstick and top it up as necessary. |

I have tried that and because the new oil is virtually clear and when pulling the dipstick out it just leaves oily smudge on the stick |

Try doing it on an MR2. Virtually impossible!
Run the engine for a few seconds after putting 6l in - this will mix up the dregs of the old oil with the new stuff and make it easier to see. _________________ 1997 KZJ90 3.0d, 2" suspension lift, 235/85/16 Cooper STT Pros. 217k hard miles |

I will dip it again in the morning before going to pick up the rather expensive hose |

I've just checked my Toyota Workshop factsheet (what they used to have hanging from hooks in the dealership's service bays in the days before computers...) and it says 7 litres for the 1KZ-TE. I don't recall ever fitting that much in on a standard oil change, but definitely a bit over 6l. _________________ 1997 KZJ90 3.0d, 2" suspension lift, 235/85/16 Cooper STT Pros. 217k hard miles |
