Hi all, i pulled up sharply at a zebra crossing, went to pull away again and no drive,gave it a second or 2, put it in neutral and back to drive and then was fine, this also happened after braking down a hill to a stop, low fluid in auto box ?? 98 3.0 auto colorado btw

Sounds like you've come up with your own solution, certainly worth checking the fluid level before doing anything else. It's often difficult to get a good reading on these cars but, as you probably know already, get it on a level surface after a run to warm the oil up, cycle the gear shift through all the steps and then check the oil level with the engine still running in Park. It should be at the hot level obviously on the dipstick. If the level is OK then it's time to panic.

Oh, the fluid should ideally be a nice clear cherry red in colour and not smell burnt.

Also advisable to have a good look underneath to see if it is loosing fluid around the gearbox , bell housing , prop shft seals ,etc , Also is it a model that has a transmission cooler built into the radiator ?
