Seems like we have plastic covers over the sills has anyone removed these I want to inspect behind them, are they glued on somehow.

Hi.
just an idea.
If you remove the plastic treads on the floor as you get in the car, Have a look inside the cill with a boroscope camera.  If all is clean and rust free you should be OK.

I was amazed when I checked mine they were as good as new. I have since used dinitrol to make sure they stay good. All inside the door bottoms as well.

They are clipped on but also have a double sided think trimtape to secure/seal the edges... (the double sided foam filled sort of tape...)

They come off easy but you'll need trim tape to secure them fully when re-fitting....
