Hi, Folks.
I have had my 2001 Colorado for one year now. I don`t know why but I`ve only just thought of looking for an owners club.
My previous vehicle was a 1999 Landrover Discovery V8 3.9 Auto running on LPG. I had that for six years and had no mechanical/reliability problems at all with it. Before that I had a 2.5 Turbo Diesel Manual Disco`. Again no prob`s. I had that for five years.
My wife and daughter both have horses and guess who has to transport them around ?
The 2.5 manual Disco was underpowered for towing two horses. Going uphill was a constant stirring of the gear lever between 2nd and 3rd. Over revving in 2nd not quite pulling 3rd.
The V8 Auto was better but inconvenient to refuel avery 150 miles.
I had a 12 month relationship with a 7.5 ton Merc` lorry but that was expensive in that it had to be taxed, insured and m.o.t.`d even when not being used.
The LC is so much smoother on the road and all that torque, pulls effortlessly. I would never go back to a Disco now !
Could someone answer a question please ? I can find no reference to checking the automatic transmission fluid level in the owners manual.
On the Discovery, you had to run the engine with the box in 1st then put it in `N` and check dipstick. Is this the same proceedure with the LC ? thanks. |

Hi Picquet
Welcome to The Club!
Sorry - I'm not able to offer technical advice, but one of our resident experts should be along soon with some advice
