|
|
Hey guys,
Im new to this forum and have really found alot of useful information to help me sort out the small niggles on my cruiser. I recently bought a SWB LJ70 2.5 td.
The problem im having however hasnt been covered yet. My reverse lights dont work at all. I have checked the bulb onthe passenger side and it seems perfectly fine. No signs of rust either that would otherwise suggest a faulty connection. I have checked all fuses and they all are fine.
Can anyone point me to the reverse light switch on the gearbox, and how i would tackle it to figure if it is faulty or not. Also is there any other part of the wiring i should check before attacking this.
Thanks for your help in advance.
cheers

They both run off the same wiring until it gets to the rear of the vehicle, then the LH one travels to the other side.(from memory)
So on the RH side, inside the rear interior trim panel, there should be a plug you can check for continuity.
There is also a wiring harness on top/side of the gearbox with a sensor that detects when its in reverse, you can check that its connected and has power.
Dont confuse it with the sensor on the t/case further back that tells you its in 4wd.
If you watch while someone shifts it into reverse you should see how it works if it is attached to the side of the gearbox(Im not totally familiar with the light duty 70 series)
The top mounted sensors are a prick
If you search through this lot you will find some free manuals for your vehicle.
The gearbox manual or the body and chassis manual is the one you need for this problem
