|
|
Can anybody explain me what the difference is between the round (2 headlights) and square (4 headlights) headlights?
On various fora I read so far: since 1988 HJ's have a 4 headlight set-up. Although I find HJ's from 1987 for sale with square headlights...
I think both diesel (hj60) and turbodiesel (hj61) have those square lights?
somewhere else it is said there are 60 series 1 (round headlights) en 60 series 2 (square lights), the latter one also providing the electric stuff like electric windows and so.
Then I think most square headlighted HJ's have a 2H 3980cc engine, while older models like 1982 to 1984 HJ 60 and 61 have 3F 3955cc enigines?
Who knows these thing exactly???

The answer isnt straight forward.
Basically the 2x2 headlights were an updated model to give its some more life before the 80 series come along with its 2x2 headlights.
The years vary in different countries, this is why your getting so much contradictory info.
In Oz ,they kept selling the old type after the new shape was introduced.
The one that kept the single headlights were low spec models for farmers and personnel transport in the mining industry.
The aussie models usually have split rims, barn doors, 5sp,diesel on the low spec models.
The low spec models had no spec level badges but the others were sold as G ,GX and GLX.
Australia had a top or the range model called the Sahara.
In South America ,some countries kept getting the newer shape until 92 when production ceased in 1990 in other places.
The best model was the HJ61 with the turbo diesel (12HT) and the FJ62 which had a 3F or 3FE in the USA
The HJ60 and FJ60 could have a range of options
Im reasonably sure both bodies were built with the high roof or low roof.
There were also BJ60 ( 4cyl diesel) sold in Europe and Canada _________________ 1995 HZJ75 troop carrier
