Was on the estate this weekend, just driving around in some of the rocks and hollows, nothing very exiting, but it demonstrated how agile the SWB version and anyway, it's an excuse to play about with tyre pressures etc.

But then I went for a drive in the forest - normally the preserve of the quadbike, but I thought that I help to flatten the heather down a bit. I remember thinking "Don't go any further 'cos there's a great big drain in this ride THUNK!!!" Ah, that would be the drain then. Buried up to the headlights in a burn. Despite the incredible traction that the BFG MTs gave, I could not get the bumper to ride up the opposite bank as the front wheels were basically hanging in space. Well, a chance to try the Warn. Trouble was that the winch was buried too! I had to dig down to that. The hook was unreachable, so I let some slack out and dropped the snatch block into the loop. Luckily forests are made from trees, so I didn't have any difficulty in finding an anchor point. Obviously, I had go through the hazard turn around and come back again. It needed winching across. The trench was just too deep and wide. The picture doesn't really do it justice. But the winch.. Fantastic, whipped me out in no time. Once my wheels hit the opposite bank, I got drive again. Those MTs are awesome. I managed 27mpg up to Scotland this trip with them running at 40 psi.

Nice thought Paul. These only just fit now, they catch slightly in reverse on full lock. Only on the mud flap, though. Even your huge tyres wouldn't have worked here. There actually has to be some ground for them to rub on. Mine were dangling! Winching was the only option I can assure you.
