Hi i'm new to these trucks and may be worried about nothing, but here goes.
When the car cold the gear box is reluctant to engage 2nd unless double declutched once warm its fine, its a 4litre td 1986 modle .
the truck has only done 163000kms so should be just about run in.
anyone got any ideas?

Apart from a mechanical problem in the gearbox itself, try bleeding the clutch hydraulics.

It's normally not a difficult job to bleed and a bit of air in the system will make the gear change a problem. Don't let the fluid level in the header tank drop too low.

Thanks i got it checked out seems i was worring about nothing just seems they are slightly slow when very cold.

I'm not 100% sure what i have its a 1986 4 litre tubo diesel 60 series thats asmuch as i know. great truck.oly problem is the winch for some reaso it get drive to the prop shft but not the drum anyone any ideas have i missed something?

The info regarding the engine,gearbox,diffs,paint trim etc is on a plate on the firewall.
Unless yours has an aftermarket turbo,it should be a 61 series .
It sounds like a 24 volt Japanese import with the winch and big bumper.
I had an 12v aussie model and still wish I hadnt sold it

I dont know much about winches but they do have a shear pin on a shaft to protect it from being overloaded.
The pin is located where the universal joint joins the shaft to the winch.
You maybe able to buy the replacement pin from the dealer or you can get a machinist to make you one.
The winches are not fast but considered v good quality,considered equal to the Warn 8274.
They dont last long when they are for sale.
The manual has 38 pages on the winch and PTO repair and there are free online manuals around

Thank you i shall check the shear pin next time i get a chance, does anyone have ny pictures of the pin? It is 24v andhas got the big bumper and winch and the turbo is standard so its a 61.

Oz seem to have only got the electric winch,so our catalogs dont show the pin(electric winches have clutches)

On the American sites they talk about replacing the pin with a 1/4" dowell
