I was in the same predicament when I bought my 80 3 years ago.The previous owner's dog had eaten his last fob so he just disconnected the alarm sounder!!
Tried everywhere to source new fobs but could only find them at Toyota dealers.I think they were around £60+vat each but at the time they had an offer on of 2 new fobs + new ECU fitted and working for £160 all in which is what I went for.The TVSS 3B actually has Cat 1 Thatchum approval.

Whoa, I bought one on e-bay - delivered for £20. Perfect. Better than the one I had. I posted a link on here a couple of months ago. They were selling for £11 each. Someone bought one.

Check out e-bay. Seriously. There are traders who do nothing else but remotes.

Come on. Took me two minutes. This one's going for £5.50 at the moment. Some are £9.99.

Have a look.

No, we can help you with the reprogramming. You will need a bit of savvy, but it's all in a posting on here. Not hard. If you are over visiting this fair town and not so good on the tools, I could do it for you.

Sorry, playing forum ping pong here. You asked for a TVSS remote. That's what that is. If you have a different alarm, then it's not TVSS. I would suspect that you have TVSS given the widespread fitting of them on Collies like ours. Visit to Toymota not necessary. Just seen one for £4.00! I may buy one more myself and hide it on the vehicle.

Hey, who gets you dressed in the morning? I don't know - try the search facility. It works you ... Oh never mind. Here you are.

http://www.tlocuk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2968&highlight=tvss

My post about half way down has the procedure. There are other posts if you search in Colorado / 90 forum, TVSS

No pics I'm afraid, but I can talk you through it.

Sorry, meant to say if you have an 80 series, the box may well be in a different place. Towpack will know. If it is TVSS then I'm sure that the reprogramming will be the same

The alarm ECU on my LC is fitted beneath the centre armrest console but mine is the TVSS 3B system only fiitted,I believe, to the later 80's.I think the ECU on the earlier 80's was fitted behind the dashboard aroung the glove compartment area.
