|

I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post!
I have had my LC4 since last year, I had one before that for about 4 months but it was written off in a smash.
Last weekend I took it through a car wash and didn't fold back the electric mirrors.
The car wash grabbed the mirror and pulled it forward. Normally this isn't an issue but I guess something broke.
I put the mirror back were it should be by hand (maybe that was my mistake) but now whenever I start the engine the mirror extend past the normal position until it is flat against the body with the mirror pointing away from the truck.
I have tried resetting it using the retract/extend button but this hasn't fixed the problem.
The most infuriating thing is that I have to first start the truck, get out and go around the passenger side to fix the mirror and then get back in.
Toyota said that I should just replace the mirror but this is expensive.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
I can't see how to dismantle the mirror to look at the insides.
Is there a fuse that runs the mirrors separately from the windows. I can't find it if there is.
I have considered disconnecting the electrics but that means taking the door apart.
Please help if you can. This problem is driving me nuts!!! |

No idea how to fix the mirrors really, but could you get somebody to hold the mirror in place and stop it moving whilst you start the car? Perhaps then whatever jumped or misaligned when the car wash got it might just jump back and reset itself. Either that or it will knacker completely, but hey, if it's broken already...
Welcome to the forum by the way.
Must have been a fair old smash to write off your last Landcruiser _________________ Rick |

Mine also flicked back before today.
I seem to remember I pulled it right, then just pressed the button in and out a few times,
It made an awfull 'clicking' noise, but just seemed to work again as normal.
Like rick saud, just get a mate to hole it while it trys to reset itself.
I suppose you can't make it any worse.
PS, you dont have the wheels still by any chance,
Probably not, but thought I would ask as I am looking for 4 more wheels for my 'play tyres'
