I tried to get my hand in the cut out in the engine bay however there appears to be a denso pump in the way with piping to it.
Im thinking this is something to do with the aircon but am unsure.
Anyone who has replaced their ariel via the cut out did you have to move the denso pump?
Im a chick with small hands and am thinking there is no other way

Advise please

Candice

Hi Candice,
Don't know what you have on yours, but mine just had an alarm module over the access hole - I just unbolted it and moved it out of the way.
Nothing in the wing apart from the aerial and indicator repeater.
Depending how it is fixed, if you unscrew the top off the aerial outside the wing it might just drop into the void and you can pull it out via the cable / your hand.
I just did the reverse with the new aerial, only fixed it by the screw cover outside the wing. It is a bit of a sod getting the right fittings and angle to fix it tight though.
The new cable through the bulkhead can be pulled in via the old cable, use a sleeve over the new plug so it does not catch on the hole. I could not reach the bulkhead hole through the access hole, but it went ok after a struggle.
Good luck Smile
Phil

Checked on the net
Denso is a supplier of aircon units
I wont be removing this ..................

Why the hell they put it right in front of the inspection hatch i dont know

I am seriously considering taking the wing off
I need space

I bought the same ariel as you did (i looked on your previous post)

Candice, have you thought about removing the plastic liner from inside the wing?

There is no plastic liner on my UK LC, so it may be an import item only.
Also you may have the coolbox between the front seats, so A/C for this will be different to UK spec.
A wing and a prayer Wink

My UK 80 series has plastic liners, I think yours have been removed. Been fitted to pretty much every Toyota 4x4 since the early 90s.

My 94 VX LC is an import & it has liners, I to have to change my aerial but i have no access panel on the inner wing. I am seriously thinking of putting one of those little stumpy masts like BMW's have on the roof above the interior mirror. The aeriel is in a bad place on LC's iv'e cought mine several times on things sticking out of hedges. The roof one should be low enough to still use multi story carparks.

Cheers for all the advice

Im off to holand this week
But next week im getting the god damn ariel in
even if it means disc grinder to inside pannel / cutting a finger off / geting a small child to do the job

I will not give up
Picture this:
I spend my work breaks lying on my engine trying to get my hand in the hole
with half the workforce eating their lunch watching me
Well at least its entertainment for them Laughing
