In September this year I'm planning a European trip with a basic route of - France down to Macon . Then head east via the Mont Blanc tunnel across the alps and up to Innsbruck - Then across southern Germany to the Black Forest then back home via Northern France.......I plan to do this over a 2 week period and if I've worked it out correctly I only need to do 160 miles a day driving - so with some longer stretches at the start and end of the trip I should be able to have 2 or 3 nights at some of the better camp sites.
The reason I'm posting here is to ask if anyone from this group would like to tag along......OR offer guidance for places to see and avoid....

Hi Andy,
In 2006 I did Dover ---> ferry Calais   ---> Dijon ---> Geneve ---> Lausanne ---> Charmonix ---> Mt Blanc tunnel ---> Cuneo (Italy ) ---> Savona ---> Nice ---> Marseilles  ---> Cap de Agde ---> Perpignan ---> Barcelona --->  Valencia --->  Madrid ---> Bilbao ---> Bordeaux ---> Rennes ---> Paris ---> Calais ---. Dover ---> Warrington

We didn't have a plan, we just drive, we were looking to get to Gib. but we stayed to long in some places, so could not have the time to Gib.

I was finding, that it always took longer than I expected, and the extra hours, soon became extra days.

It was great though.

Hi Andy,

I drove from Calais to Algeciras and my main memory is the expense of the toll roads in France and Spain. It may be worth while planning trips via the free roads - some GPS can calculate this, and take the more scenic route.

hi there , done Morocco with trail masters , Portsmouth-Bilbao then down to algeciras -Tangier's ferry-drive south to Sahara head north up west coast morocco-algeciras-Barcelona-Andorra-head north back through France - Blighty .

then did Limoges area in France for two week with missus and found tolls save a great deal of time when on a long expedition , we decided to miss a toll road out in southern Spain on morocco trip and it cost us hours but the scenery was awesome  Cool most sat navs will give you the option to avoid tolls but just look how many hours it puts on the journey  Rolling Eyes driving back from Limoges to Calais would have taken over 12 hours to avoid tolls Embarassed  Wink ,  keep in touch as i am wanting to do some travelling in my kzj78 Laughing all the best Mark.
