That has about as much in common with a factory 200 as a Bowler with a LR  Laughing

I was going to put "with enough time and money anything can be great off road"

Like hire cars, sponsored Cruisers are much faster than the ones we own  Very Happy

Graham, I think you might be surprised by how stock those LCs are. They run in the standard production class (or they did in the 2009 Dakar) and they're allowed very few mods - I think they're allowed to run an extra shock per corner and obviously strip out the interior to fit a roll cage, multipoint safety-belts and long range tanks etc. The engine, gearbox and transmission all stays standard and they can add some skidplates/underbody armour but that's about it IIRC.

Cheers,

The production class is exactly that!!!!

Safety kit & some small engine tweaks allowed thats it, those vehicles are mechanically the same as the ones you'll buy in the showroom. Which is partly why Toyota keep winning the class.

I posted up about it when they won this year

Even in Dakar trim I can get used to the look of it. If someone gave me one I wouldn't set fire to it, but it just isn't growing on me.

Need to be rich to get one of these 200's up to off-road race spec, would be nice and comfortable though.
