Bought my LC from Walton Motors of Cranleigh, which seemed good value, aside from some niggles - but it did come with a one year £1,000 warranty from WMS...which I never thought I'd need.
Until the starter motor solenoid stuck last Thursday, burnt it, & burnt the wiring loom too.
(That explained our intermittent starting problems which we thought were fob-related...).
WMS will only allow VAT-registered, non-Main Dealer garages to do the repair (unwilling to pay Main Dealer labour rates).
The labour cost is calculated according to the AutoData repair times.
I pay the garage, & reclaim from WMS.
I'm waiting for WMS to give the Authorisation to underwrite the repairs.
More to follow as this unfolds. _________________ --------------------------

Update:
Dave at Herts Tyre & Exhaust - 01992 503804/info@hertfordtyres.co.uk - arranged the initial inspection off my LC at home; negotiated with WMS for the time and materials needed; got WMS's authorisation; then on my drive installed a new Toyota starter motor, re-earthed the loom & cleaned all bonds, checked the battery was still fine [I'll never forget to keep a 10mm spanner for the battery neg to hand again!] and straightened/cleaned/greased the under-engine bump trays too; I paid Dave £345.77 inc VAT as agreed with WMS, and a tip for the first callout; and within four days of sending my refund-claim to WMS, I got WMS's cheque back.
The only issues with WMS's approach:
-Their labour/time tariff didn't allow for the initial inspection, which is required to scope the likely final cost!
-Their system may not allow for sorting unforeseen problems (we thought the whole wiring loom may have been irrecoverable, for example, but fortunately it was undamaged).
BUT, thumbs up to Waltons in Surrey where I bought the LC, for throwing in a USEFUL 1-year warranty with mileage exemption; & WMS for speedily dealing with it & refunding.
Very pleasantly surprised
